Our experts include MD’s, MD PhD’s, PhD’s, RN’s, Physical therapists, Speech and Occupational Therapists, Chiropractors and other medical specialists and health care professionals. They are board certified in their specialized areas of expertise encompassing the entire spectrum of professional degrees, licenses and areas of practice. They range from current or former department chiefs and/or medical school faculty in medical research, teaching to private practitioners. Our experts spend most of their time in the practice of medicine, research, publishing and teaching and devote only a small portion of their time to expert witness pursuits.

All medical experts must have strong clinical credentials. This ensures expert witness credibility from record review through deposition and trial testimony. Having medical experts who are board-certified in their specialties and in active clinical practice ensures authoritative medical opinions and effective litigation support.

Med Expert Witness provides a free, initial telephone screening of each case. This highly specialized task is handled personally by the director, Jane R. Leavy, R.N., Esq., along with the assistance of the administrative and medical support staff. Prior to expert selection, there is an assessment of the case, it’s merits, defenses, identification and framing of the legal issues of liability, causation and damages, methodical strategy and how the medicine applies to the individual case. We discuss with you your criteria for location, credentials, experience, conflicts and availability for customized professional service. Early and proper identification of the requirements and needs of a case are cost effective and can determine the outcome. We assist in evaluating what materials, records, radiological studies, photographs and legal documents will be required for review by the expert in formulating the basis of the expert’s opinions.

Med Expert Witness experts are located nationwide in various areas of specialty. They are available to travel for the purpose of deposition and trial testimony, hearings or examination of an individual or evidence. Our experts are highly qualified, courteous and professional.

Upon identification of the appropriate expert for your individualized case, Med Expert Witness will recommend an expert(s) and by e-mail or fax transmission, send the proposed expert’s curriculum vitae for the client’s approval along with the retainer contract. We welcome the client’s input, questions or concerns regarding expert selection.

There are no hidden costs. Prior to engaging our expert and forwarding all relevant medical records and documents, we will clearly discuss the fees associated with your case. A retainer is required prior to the expert beginning his or her evaluation. There is NO charge for our services until you designate or retain an expert we have referred to you. We bill hourly for the use of our experts. Fees are variable and depend on the medical specialty involved, the complexity of the case, the volume of the records to be reviewed and the time permitted for completion.

All fees assessed by our medical expert will be billed through Med Expert Witness. When you retain the expert, you work together directly, and we submit invoices to you as work is performed. Should any questions arise concerning our expert’s opinion, the experienced professional staff at Med Expert Witness will serve as a liaison between you and the expert.

In extraordinary circumstances a flat fee may be negotiated for a specific task.

There are no contingency fees of any kind. Medical experts have the most credibility when they have no financial stake in the outcome. Therefore, Med Expert Witness does not enter into any contingency fee arrangements with our clients.
